Twitch has expanded its sponsorship tools to Affiliates, opening a route that had largely been reserved for Partners.

The platform says Affiliates can now be discovered by brands, receive invitations for suitable campaigns and manage the work through the Sponsorship Dashboard. Eligibility is not automatic: an Affiliate must meet the individual brand's criteria and complete Twitch's Creator Sponsorship Certification.

A change from the Partner-only model

Twitch says sponsorships were previously available to Partners except for a small number of one-off Affiliate campaigns. Its recent Minecraft campaigns were part of the test: Twitch says more than half of the paid streamers who took part were Affiliates.

The new system does not promise every Affiliate a deal. Brands can invite Affiliates globally to their first sponsorship on Twitch, while campaign requirements and invitations still depend on the brand and the creator profile. Twitch says matching opportunities will be sent by email and through on-site notifications.

Certification is required

Affiliates must complete the Creator Sponsorship Certification course before they can be eligible for sponsorship opportunities. Twitch describes it as a self-paced course covering how creator sponsorships work, how to run them and how to deliver results for brands. Certified creators receive a “Certified Creator” label on their profile.

The platform has also added options for creators to feature sponsored clips in their Creator Profile. That profile gives brands a single place to see channel information and stated sponsorship interests, rather than requiring a separate pitch for every campaign.

More offers through Wehype

Twitch is also partnering with creator-marketing platform Wehype to surface additional offers in the Sponsorship Dashboard. Twitch named an EA Battlefield opportunity as one of the first offers available through that partnership, subject to the campaign's criteria and invitation process.

For smaller streamers, the practical change is access. It does not make sponsorship revenue guaranteed, but it moves discovery, campaign management and payment into the same Twitch workflow used by much larger channels. Creators still need to read each campaign's terms before accepting it.
